Undergraduate/Preservice Science Research Programs
U.S. Department of Energy Preservice Teacher (PST) Internship Program
This program places students (undergraduates, and credential students) in paid internships in Science, Math, and Technology at any of several different locations throughout the nation. The participants in the program have decided on a teaching career in one of these disciplines. Students work with scientists or engineers on projects related to the laboratories' research programs. They also have the mentorship of a Master Teacher who is currently working in K-12 education as a teacher and is familiar with the research environment of a specific National Laboratory. The different laboratories each offer different research opportunities.
CSU Science Teeacher and Researcher (STAR): Pre-service teacher summer research internship program
The California State University (CSU) in partnership with Department of Energy national research laboratories and the NASA Ames Research Center is announcing the 2008 Science Teacher and Researcher (STAR) pre-service science teacher summer research program.
STAR PROGRAM ELEMENTS
- Eight-week scientific research experience at a San Francisco Bay Area national lab or research center
- $4,000 stipend (housing and travel support provided if needed)
- Weekly inquiry-based science teaching and learning workshops
- Teacher-Scientist learning community

Science Teacher Research Programs
The Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory provides eight-week summer research opportunities for high- and middle-school science teachers. Mentored research experiences with Berkeley Lab investigators are available through two program venues. Dates for both eight week experiences are June 16 to August 8.
